Dogs & Rugs

After getting the mega-deal on tile Saturday, we stopped at Lowe's. Before we go in, we review what we need so as to not be distracted by the other pretty things. On our list for Saturday was spray paint (and stay tuned for that barrel of fun), paint brushes, and a review of what would be needed to tile. And that was it.

But to get to the tile section we had to pass the rug section. What a stink.

They had a rug. 8 x 10. Just what we wanted. In fact, we had looked at it before. We've been moving our gorgeous green jute rug around and have been desperately needing an additional rug. The difference was that the shaggy cream and beige rug was on sale. Regularly $168. Clearance at $118. Jeremiah thinks he can get them to go lower. Asks for a manager. Gets the price knocked down to $85. Dollars. For an 8x10 rug. It would have been stupid to not get the rug. We would never find it cheaper.

So we got it.


Where do the dogs come in? They love the rug.

P.S. I don't know what point Atters switched from his Kong to the tennis ball. He's a quick little bugger, I tell ya.

Secret Love

I've had a huge crush for a while now. Jeremiah has known about it. He was even okay with it. I wouldn't exactly call him an enabler, but he certainly didn't do anything to diminish my crush. Ready? Here it is:
It's the reversible rug. From Target. Week after week, month after month, I would gaze longingly at the rug. Touch it. Sigh and walk away. Totally couldn't afford it. As we walked through on Sunday (Valentine's Day, I think it was fate) I noticed a small red sticker on the tag - you know the sticker. The CLEARANCE sticker. I kid you not. It was on clearance for only - wait for it - $12.00. I practically purred. I wouldn't set it down. Then I saw his little (but still handsome) brother and was like, "hello lover" - it was only $6. OHMYGOSH. I got them both. We're doing quite well, thank you. I'm not showing it/them in all the glory until the walls get painted. Get over it.

But I'm not finished. Because when it rains it pours - clearance stickers, that is! So we continue wandering around Target. I'm beaming like a proud parent and am feeling positively giddy. Then we see this:

$160 for the chair. On clearance. $27! It is so comfy and wonderful that I snatched it right up. I figure I can make a little cover for it once I finally get the craft room ready to go. Boy oh boy. What a day.

Room updates! Or, Emily finally found a rug that she likes.

Here is Jer's music station. I'm sure he has a fancy name for it, but I'll just call it a music station. It isn't complete yet. I'm still planning on using a funky fabric or paper to look like a wall behind the stereo and drum to hide the wires. The rug (which I adore) was purchased at World Market and is made of jute.
Scout is loving the new setup, too. She has such good taste.
Here is a view from the top (isn't that a movie?). You can see that we divided the freakishly long room into two smaller rooms using the bookshelf. We doled out some moolah for the white boxes so we can store goodies without looking messy.
Here is the view of just the music area. We plan on adding/switching out the chair for a small (yet fun) couch or like I mentioned, adding another chair.
